The Student Hand was created to positively impact New Zealand’s future professionals and businesses alike. How we do that is by providing a platform that seamlessly aids businesses as well as graduates and students to connect. We not only give students and graduates a platform that they have never been offered before but offer businesses free access to our database of students in order for them to find the future of their organisations.
As a business you are able to fill in our job request form on our For Businesses page OR visit our contact page to discuss your needs and learn more about our services.
Students are able to sign up to our service via the For Students page on our website. For more information students are encouraged to contact The Student Hand via our ‘Contact’ page.
Whether is is a position description, experience, GPA, or other criteria discussed, we will match this information against our database to provide you with a quality talent pool
Students are then notified of the request and their necessary information and documents are provided to your businesses.
You will then be provided with the contact details as well as CVs and transcripts to carry out your own recruitment process with this final talent pool.
You shouldn’t have to spend weeks planning, waiting, and screening candidates. We streamline the process, delivering your final talent pool in just two days
Lewis founded The Student Hand as a 20-year-old student at the University of Otago. Initially, it started as a labour hire service, connecting Dunedin residents with university students for odd jobs. However, after realising this wasn’t the right path, Lewis pivoted. Following 18 months and 33 business models, The Student Hand was relaunched as an early careers recruitment platform.
Throughout this 18 month period Lewis meticulously studied the early careers space and knew he could provide value to students and businesses. In Aotearoa a business on average takes between 2-6 weeks to recruit graduates. Lewis created a model that helps businesses reach their final talent pool of candidates within 48 hours. He wanted to create a risk free process and decided on a success fee being the only charge businesses receive upon the successful hire of a candidate.
With the ambition of creating a world leading recruitment platform, Lewis wants to continue to help students through providing resources, advice and opportunities across Aotearoa.
Lewis is the sole founder and operator of The Student Hand allowing him to implement a personalised approach with both businesses and students.
